About Fort Rock
The community of Fort Rock sits beside one of Oregon's most striking landmarks — the towering volcanic tuff ring of the same name. It's a place where the high-desert homesteading past is still close to the surface.
The Fort Rock Valley Homestead Village Museum preserves the cabins, church, and schoolhouse of the early settlers, and nearby Fort Rock Cave produced sandals over 10,000 years old — among the oldest footwear ever found.
